The First ePaper IoT Summit 2021 organized by the E-paper Industry Alliance(EPIA) drew its curtain in Yangzhou, the “Silicon Valley of ePaper”, on May 18, 2021. It attracted approximately 200 delegates from 100 companies and organizations in the ePaper industry value chain, signifying that the development of ePaper is entering into a new period.

Key government attedees, including Ms. Lian Yueqin, Director of the Jiangsu Taiwanese Affairs Office; Mr. Kong Lingjun, Deputy Party Secretary of Yangzhou; Mr. Pan Xueyuan, Party Secretary of Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone; and Mr. Huang Junhua, Director of Yangzhou Taiwanese Affairs Office, presented at the Summit, and witnessed the founding of the E-paper Industry Alliance (EPIA).

At the Summit, the EPIA signed strategic agreements with the Mobile Silicon Valley (Beijing) IoT Industry Alliance and the ePaper Technology and Application Branch of the Guangdong Flat Panel Display Industry Association, the organizations will start cooperation in the innovative ePaper application in the IoT industry.

The attending organizations included: The World Green Design Organization, the Logistics Branch of the China General Chamber of Commerce, The Yangzhou Intelligent Industry Association, the Fujian Institute of Electronic Information Application and Technology, and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer Association.

The EPIA members that were present included: E Ink, BOE, Holitech, Lenovo, Alibaba, Shanghai Yangtze River Software Park, Inventec, Hanshow, ZKONG, Qingyue Optoelectronics, YES Optoelectronics, MICROVIEW Electronics, Arizon RFID Technology, EWELL, Woxu Wireless, GTI IOT Technology, APEP Technology, M&G Stationary, RINLINK, Yeon Technologies, WeTao, Unote Technologies, Mirai Create, CIMC, Cainiao Logistics, SKF, P&G, BOSCH Diesel Systems, Magna, ADVANTECH, 3M, Avery Dennison, STMicroelectronics, Smartchip Microelectronics, Whale Cloud, and CSCX Semiconductors.

Conference attendees visited the world’s first paper-less manufacture line jointly built by E Ink and Woxu Wireless. The UWB positioning technology collects big data of each movement occurred during the production in centimeter scale every second. The smart factory uses AI to record, analyze and display production data on ePaper display instead of traditional paper logbook, in this way, the production efficiency can be further improved and reduce carbon emission in the same time.

The attendees all spoke highly of the Summit which gave them a deeper understanding of both ePaper application trend and various IoT technologies. A further penetration of ePaper into IoT  industry can be anticipated in the near future.
