Amazon Working on a New Kindle With Note Taking Functionality

Good eReader

By Michael Kozlowski

Good e-Reader disclosed a couple of months ago that Amazon was developing a new Kindle e-reader with note taking functionality. It looks like this will be a reality sometime in 2022 and they will finally develop a large screen Kindle that comes with a stylus and users will be able to freehand draw, take notes and edit PDF files. The company recently conducted a survey with a number of hardcore Kindle users and they have settled in two names for the upcoming device. They were Kindle Passage and Kindle Scribe. I think Kindle Scribe is the better name and is easily recognizable for what it would do, it also would be easily trademarked … They also have a highlight system for their E INK devices, which is less intuitive.

Media consumption is one of the many things that you would buy an iPad for. Apple too offers an excellent app in the form of Apple Books for that. The app keeps things simple yet elegant. Be it reading e-books or listening to audiobooks, the Apple Books app suffices for all your requirements and won’t require installing different apps for the same … What that means is there is light that is incident on your eyes no matter what software or hardware wizardry comes into play. This again is a less desirable scenario if you are concerned with your eye health. E-Paper solutions such as E Ink displays offer the best possible solution when it comes to offering a glare-free reading experience. You will have the least eye fatigue even when reading for long hours and this is the reason most e-reader devices sport E Ink displays.

When you think about new smartphones, you probably think of fancy specs like a big gorgeous display or a powerful rear camera system. But Hisense’s new E-Ink smartphone, the A9, will make you think differently about gorgeous displays. While the phone doesn’t boast a gigantic bright OLED display that’ll look good while you’re gaming or watching videos on TikTok or Twitch, it offers a display that readers will love. Its 6.1-inch 300ppi E-Ink Carto 1200 display uses a HyperWave ultra-wave engine that should make for a 33% faster refresh rate and more precise color temperature adjustment (with 36 levels to choose from).

Xiaomi’s InkPalm 5 is a pocket-sized device with a 5.2 inch E Ink display and Android-based software. Basically it’s an eReader that’s small enough to fit in your pocket and versatile enough to use for more than just reading eBooks. When the InkPalm 5 launched last year, it was available exclusively in China for around $91 and up. But I recently noticed that multiple AliExpress sellers are offering to ship it to customers around the world, with some selling the little eReader for as little as $110.
