ePaper (electronic paper) is a paper-like display technology that does not emit its own light, relies on ambient light reflection to form images, and consumes no power to maintain static images.
As a green technological revolution for paper, ePaper is currently widely applied across various fields—including e-readers, digital writing tablets, smart retail, smart healthcare, smart education, smart office, smart transportation, smart civil aviation, smart industry, smart logistics, and personal consumer electronics—to achieve low-carbon, digital, and circular sustainability.
The ePaper Industry Alliance (EPIA) was established in Shanghai, China, in April 2021, co-founded by industry pioneers E Ink, BOE, and Seekink. Our mission is to drive innovation, serve as the representative voice of the ePaper industry, and advance ePaper-related standardization. By the end of 2024, the cumulative shipments of ePaper display screens had exceeded 1.6 billion units, driving the total industry value across the supply chain to over one trillion yuan.
Since its inception, EPIA has grown rapidly, with over 260 companies having joined as of June 2026. Our members span a diverse range of sectors—from supply chain actors, brands, ODM/OEMs, and chip manufacturers to content providers, service partners, consulting firms, and academic and research institutions. All are united by the common objective to expand the ePaper community, bolster the ecosystem, and encourage the adoption of ePaper technology across various industries.
