On August 28, the ePIC 2024, the second ePaper Innovation Conference, will be held in Shenzhen. To complement the annual highlight of the ePIC, the ePaper Industry Alliance (EPIA) and Quadrant Lab will launch a series of innovative product stories in both Chinese and English version, as a review of last year's ePaper innovations. This initiative is expected to further promote the development of ePaper technology application, injecting sustained momentum into the emerging display and IoT innovation fields.
Characterized by its ability to display clearly under ambient light without backlighting, ePaper is a highly energy-efficient and environmentally friendly product. It is currently widely used in smart education, smart healthcare, smart retail, and public transportation, with mass-produced products such as e-books, electronic price tags, bedside cards, and electronic signage. R&D team at TPV Technology has always focused on innovation and user needs in developing new ePaper display products, constantly focusing on new life and work scenarios to ensure broader application of their products in people's daily lives.
On June 10, 2022, the Luzhou Municipal Government and TPV Technology held a cooperation agreement signing ceremony. It’s when TPV R&D team was highly inspired. After that, the leading General Manager Chen Xubiao, who was specialized in R&D, proposed the concept of 'Wine·Screen'. This concept attempts to combine ePaper technology with wine bottle packaging, allowing photos to be displayed on the wine bottle, providing consumers with an refreshing experience.
The TPV R&D team conducted multiple brainstorming sessions to expand the product's artistic design and functional scenarios. They also worked to break the traditional wine bottle appearance design, integrating technological and artistic innovations to make 'Wine·Screen' both a wine container and a display screen.
TPV team also innovated the ePaper display functionality based on market research by incorporating a wider variety of display libraries (such as solar terms and seasons) into the electrical system module. The system can automatically update display images according to the ePaper screen software's set time, and users can also refresh the screen through phone Bluetooth, setting personalized images.
In developing the "Wine·Screen," TPV team conducted multiple validations and tests on the product's design. One of the most iconic designs was inspired by the "Shuang Loong Xi Zhu" motif(a traditional Chinese auspicious pattern with two dragons playing the ball). In determining the material for the wine bottle, the team compared and tested metal and ceramic materials, and consulted with wine industry experts. Ultimately, they chose Jingdezhen ceramics as the base material, using a glazing and gilding process for coloring.
The appearance design of the bottle is also uniquely creative. The bottom of the bottle features carved waves symbolizing the sea, with lifelike sea dragons sculpted on both sides. The bottle cap is designed in the shape of a red pearl. This artistic design, which perfectly combines the sea wave base, golden dragons, and red pearl, implying the good wish of glory, prosperity and enduring friendship.
The innovative "Wine·Screen" transforms wine bottles into something spectacular. It integrates ePaper display technology into wine bottle packaging, garnering widespread attention and further expanded its usage scenarios to include birthdays, weddings, housewarmings, and business events. Following are examples:
*At Party
Wine bottles equipped with ePaper screens can serve as special gifts or unique beverages for celebratory occasions. When friends gather together, you can use it to display shared happy moments or funny images to liven up the atmosphere. At birthday parties, custom wine bottles with "Happy Birthday" become the focal point of the event. At weddings, couples can use wine bottles displaying their wedding photos for toasting, making the ceremony more warm and romantic. The "Wine·Screen" transforms wine bottles from simple containers into intelligent carriers that actively express emotions, adding a new and fun experience to various celebrations.
*Care for User
The "Wine·Screen" can connect with a mobile application, allowing users to set limits on their drinking. Once the limit is reached, the ePaper screen on the bottle will display a gentle reminder. It can also record users' drinking habits and generate data reports to help them better understand their drinking habit. Additionally, users can customize the content, enabling them to write blessings or share interesting moments, turning the wine bottle into an interactive and communicative smart companion that guides users towards healthier drinking habits.
*In Wine Tasting
Traditional wine bottle labels cannot fully showcase the characteristics of the wine. Whereas the "Wine·Screen", with its exquisite appearance, can display information such as origin, vintage, and taste on the screen, allowing users to learn about the wine's culture and historical background while enjoying it. This makes the tasting process more engaging and educational, giving consumers a deeper understanding and appreciation of the wine industry.
*In Bar
Wine bottles embedded with ePaper screens can display captivating foreign landscapes, the origin and history of the wine, and other content. Customers can choose their preferred wine based on such information, enhancing their cultural experience. Some "Wine·Screens" can even interact with customers, adjusting the displayed content according to their preferences and moods. Bar owners explain that these innovative applications not only provide guests with a more intuitive understanding of the wine's origin and brewing process but also allow for customized displays that meet different customer needs, making each bottle a unique piece of art.
TPV Technology's innovative design not only changes people's perception of wine bottles but also opens up a new field of technological applications. Looking to the future, TPV team plans to launch more tech products integrated with daily life, innovating people's drinking experiences.
