2025-09-19

The 3rd Electronic Paper Industry Innovation Conference (ePIC 2025) Concludes with Strategic Cooperation Between CCSA StarFlash Alliance and ePaper Industry Alliance

On August 27, 2025, the 3rd Electronic Paper Industry Innovation Conference (ePIC 2025) was held at Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center. The CCSA StarFlash Alliance was invited to attend and signed a cooperation agreement with the ePaper Industry Alliance, announcing the establishment of a joint working group. This marks a new stage in the collaborative development of the two industrial ecosystems.

Technological Empowerment: StarFlash Features Reshape E-Paper Application Experience

At the conference, Liang Xingang, Industrial Consultant of the CCSA StarFlash Alliance, delivered a keynote speech titled "StarFlash Technology: Injecting New Vitality into E-Paper Industry Innovation", in which he conducted an in-depth analysis of the integrated innovation path between StarFlash technology and the e-paper industry.

Liang Xingang pointed out that as a display technology with low power consumption and high readability, e-paper has been widely applied in electronic shelf labels, smart office, logistics waybills and other fields. However, the limitations of traditional wireless communication technologies in terms of power consumption, reliability and connection scale have restricted its intelligent upgrading. StarFlash technology, with its innovative dual-mode architecture, provides an ideal solution to address this pain point.

StarFlash Low-power Access (SLE) technology features 250μs bidirectional interaction latency, a receiving sensitivity as low as -110dBm, and the capability to support concurrent access of up to 256 users. Its low-power consumption and large-scale connection characteristics can accurately meet the needs of large-scale deployment scenarios of multi-screen e-paper devices, helping to extend device battery life and optimize operation and maintenance efficiency.

Meanwhile, StarFlash Basic Access (SLB) technology supports 20μs one-way latency and 99.999% transmission reliability, which can meet the real-time interaction requirements of large-size e-paper commercial displays and achieve a smooth operation experience comparable to traditional LCD screens.

Ecosystem Co-construction: Strategic Cooperation Agreement Promotes Technology Integration

At the conference site, the CCSA StarFlash Alliance and the ePaper Industry Alliance formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Shi Jinglin, Chairman of the CCSA StarFlash Alliance, and Chen Rengui, Executive Chairman of the ePaper Industry Alliance, jointly attended the signing ceremony. This important moment signifies that the two parties will establish a closer cooperative relationship and work together to promote the in-depth integration and application expansion of StarFlash technology in the e-paper field.

Simultaneously, the preparation work for the StarFlash & E-Paper Joint Working Group was officially launched. The working group will open member recruitment in the future and welcome all enterprises interested in the integrated innovation of StarFlash technology and e-paper to join. It will focus on advancing three core tasks: first, formulating StarFlash communication technical standards for e-paper devices, and standardizing interface protocols and testing methods; second, building a technology verification platform to accelerate the integration testing of StarFlash modules in e-paper terminals; third, jointly developing solutions for typical application scenarios such as smart shelves, electronic medical record screens, and industrial billboards.

As an industrial organization with more than 1,000 member units, the CCSA StarFlash Alliance has built a complete ecosystem covering chips, modules and terminal applications. A series of StarFlash modules and development kits launched by alliance members provide convenient technical access paths for e-paper enterprises. The ePaper Industry Alliance has over 200 member units, covering the entire industrial chain from materials to applications. The in-depth integration of the two ecosystems will accelerate the process of technology standardization and product commercialization.

Technological Breakthrough: First Successful Screen Refresh of "StarFlash + E-Paper"

On the occasion of the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between the two alliances, the StarFlash and e-paper industries have achieved a "first handshake" of key technology integration – on August 20, the StarFlash + e-paper screen refresh function was successfully implemented in Shenzhen. This breakthrough was jointly accomplished by the pioneering teams in the StarFlash and e-paper industries, setting the stage for further in-depth cooperation between the two parties.

This "from 0 to 1" technological breakthrough is not only an important symbol of the integration of the StarFlash and e-paper industries, but also demonstrates the collaborative advantages of the two technologies in low-power consumption and high-reliability connection scenarios. It has laid a technical foundation for the subsequent expansion of applications in segmented scenarios such as electronic shelf labels, conference nameplates, and smart guidance screens.

Industrial Significance: Green Connection Innovation Under the "Dual Carbon" Strategy

Against the backdrop of global low-carbon development, the technological integration of StarFlash and e-paper demonstrates significant environmental benefits. The low-power consumption characteristics of e-paper itself and the energy-saving advantages of StarFlash technology form a superimposed effect, providing possibilities for reducing energy consumption of IoT terminals. Taking the supermarket electronic shelf label scenario as an example, with the customized optimization and improvement of StarFlash technology in e-paper scenarios, it is expected to further reduce the deployment cost of electronic shelf label networks and significantly reduce the overall energy consumption of devices in the future, providing support for the green development of the industry.

Liang Xingang emphasized that the CCSA StarFlash Alliance is advancing the standardization work of StarFlash 3.0, which will continue to enhance capabilities in directions such as SLZ passive IoT, millimeter wave and AI. The establishment of the joint working group is well-timed, as it will promote the customized evolution of StarFlash technology in the e-paper field and help build a new smart terminal ecosystem of "no screen without interconnection". This cooperation not only expands the application boundary of StarFlash technology, but also will open up a 100-billion-level intelligent connection market for the e-paper industry, injecting green new momentum into the development of the digital economy.
