3rd SparkLink & HarmonyOS Cup Innovation Challenge opening ceremony

On June 24, 2026, the 3rd “SparkLink & HarmonyOS Cup” Innovation Application Challenge was grandly inaugurated at the Jiangjun Road Campus of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

As a strategic partner of this year’s competition, the ePaper Industry Alliance (EPIA) joined forces with the SparkLink International Alliance and the Global Intelligent IoT Alliance (GIIC) to establish an innovation pathway integrating SparkLink, HarmonyOS, AI, and ePaper technologies. The competition serves as a vehicle to accelerate the large-scale deployment of low-carbon ePaper display technology and to cultivate interdisciplinary, cross-domain innovative talent.

Over a hundred industry experts, university faculty and students, representatives from the supply chain, and media gathered at the event to witness the ePaper industry’s collaborative development with the dual-ecosystem foundations of SparkLink and HarmonyOS entering an entirely new phase.

For this competition, the ePaper industry is providing hardware support in the form of ePaper display modules and dedicated innovation incentives throughout the event. At the ceremony, Zuo Qiang, Secretary-General of the ePaper Industry Alliance, delivered a keynote speech.

Secretary-General Zuo Qiang referenced the analogy made by Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Wu Hequan at the inaugural SparkLink ePaper Working Group meeting, likening the integration of SparkLink and ePaper to the deep fusion of SparkLink’s “high-speed nervous system” with ePaper’s “energy-efficient skin.” For this competition, leading ePaper manufacturer Xingtai Technology and other companies, together with Nanjing HopeRun Software, have jointly launched a dedicated SparkLink-HarmonyOS ePaper development board, paired with multi-size four-color and full-color ePaper display modules available for participating teams to select and use.

The competition will also introduce an ePaper-specific bonus support policy, benefiting all participants who incorporate ePaper displays into their projects.

The successful launch of the 3rd “SparkLink & HarmonyOS Cup” marks the official entry of the collaborative partnership among the two domestic technology foundations — SparkLink and HarmonyOS — combined with ePaper displays into a phase of deepening implementation. The organizers look forward to seeing university students and maker teams from both China and abroad boldly innovate on these dual technology foundations, using cutting-edge creativity to solve industry pain points and illuminate the vast future of the intelligent IoT ecosystem with youthful energy.

About the ePaper Industry Alliance (EPIA)

The ePaper Industry Alliance (EPIA) was officially established on April 28, 2021, co-founded by three upstream ePaper industry leaders — E Ink, BOE, and Xingtai Technology — and voluntarily joined by over 250 ePaper industry chain enterprises, academic institutions, and research organizations, including Lenovo, TCL CSOT, Hanshow, iFLYTEK, WiseChip, Yangtze River Software Park, Oriental Core, Qingyue Optoelectronics, Linkdisplay, Vusion, Qixin Optoelectronics, and HKC Corporation.

The establishment of EPIA filled a long-standing gap in organizational representation for the ePaper industry. As an industry ecosystem platform, EPIA is dedicated to actively promoting the sustained innovation and healthy, orderly development of the ePaper industry.
