Quadrant Lab, in collaboration with the ePaper Industry Alliance (EPIA) has launched the Quadrant.ePaper weekly bulletin, aiming to provide readers with insights on global industry innovations and the latest news on the ePaper industry and connecting the global IoT ecosystem.
01 Flashpoint Smart Calendar Officially on Sale
Flashpoint Smart Calendar is an office gadget with a 6-inch black and white ePaper display. The product started crowdfunding on the Alibaba crowdfunding platform in mid-2023 and began shipping to its followers at the end of 2023. It is now officially available for sale at a price of 498 yuan. The product is launched by the development company of the calendar and schedule software "Flicker".
The screen resolution of Flashpoint Smart Calendar is 1024*758 (212ppi), with a total weight of 185 grams, made of white ABS plastic. In terms of functionality, Flashpoint Smart Calendar inherits the basic functions of Flashpoint List, able to synchronize with the Flashpoint List schedules on mobile and computer platforms, and display in monthly view, weekly view, and three-day view modes. Flashpoint Smart Calendar can also display real-time weather, temperature, and humidity, and can switch to the quadrant board or Pomodoro timer at any time.
02 DIY ePaper Desktop Display
User davidz-yt showcased his DIY ePaper desktop display on GitHub. This display uses a 4.7-inch black and white ePaper and a 3D printed housing. davidz-yt placed it on the desktop, keeping it on all the time to display real-time information such as date, time, weather, HDMI settings, USB settings, and CPU/GPU/memory temperatures. He installed ESPHome for this display, allowing it to retrieve all real-time data directly from the Home Assistant (HA) server.
03 PocketBook Launches Era Color eReader with Audio Books
PocketBook recently introduced the new generation eReader Era Color at the Leipzig Book Fair in Germany. This product features a 7-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 color ePaper display that can display 4096 colors, with a black and white resolution of 1264x1680 (300dpi) and a color resolution of 632x840 (150dpi), a 50% improvement over the previous generation. PocketBook has equipped this eReader with text-to-speech function, allowing for natural voice reading of text content in 26 supported languages.
04 Daylight Introduces a Tablet with LivePaper Screen
The Daylight Tablet is a new type of tablet that Daylight Company is about to release. The company claims that this product uses a new ePaper technology called LivePaper, with zero glare and zero blue light and a 60Hz refresh rate that can smoothly play videos. However, some industry experts believe that Daylight Company actually uses a RLCD display. This product is planned to be launched in May 2024 with a price of $799.
