Aura Ink, which runs for three months on a single charge, expands E Ink’s Spectra 6 tech into the connected home, showing how ePaper can enhance everyday decor.

An ePaper digital picture frame has been launched that combines the connectivity of a smart photo frame with the print-like look of electronic paper afforded by E Ink’s Spectra 6 platform.
The Aura Ink is a 13.3″ cordless frame with a 0.6″ profile, which can run for up to three months on a single charge.
The product features a subtle front light that preserves the technology’s paper-like qualities while adapting to ambient conditions and shutting off at night.
The energy-efficient Aura Ink draws power only when the front light is on and when images change.
E Ink research has revealed that its ePaper displays are about 12,000 times more efficient than LCDs and 60,000 times more efficient than traditional paper in terms of kilograms of CO₂ emissions.
JM Hung, E Ink’s vice-president, said: “Aura’s launch of a wireless, wall-friendly colour ePaper frame is a milestone for the category and for E Ink.
“Spectra 6 is unlocking a new generation of consumer products that look and feel like printed media, remaining readable, reflective and incredibly power efficient, while staying connected and dynamic.”
