E Ink 75-inch ePaper signage with next-gen controller chip

E Ink, the global leader in ePaper technology, recently announced a next-generation ePaper controller chip architecture built around its color ePaper timing controller (TCON) chip T2000. The new architecture significantly enhances smooth video playback performance on large-format ePaper displays, enabling ePaper signage to play advertising video content in retail environments.

With the new controller architecture, ePaper now supports dynamic video playback capabilities, accelerating the transition from static displays to dynamic applications.

Performance Highlights

Under the optimized system architecture, a 75-inch E Ink Kaleido™ large-format signage display can achieve up to 11 fps when playing video on half of the screen area (equivalent to 5120 × 1440 resolution) — nearly a threefold improvement over previous performance, substantially reducing refresh time.

In a partial animation playback scenario on a 75-inch display (approximately 1760 × 2400 resolution), the display can reach up to 13 fps.

The new architecture optimizes the data processing pipeline so that image transmission and display are no longer a single-path operation — they can run concurrently. While the current frame is being displayed, the system can simultaneously prepare the next frame, resulting in smoother operation and effectively improved display efficiency and refresh speed.

This advancement will help accelerate the adoption of ePaper digital signage in retail displays and public information systems, further propelling ePaper from traditional static displays toward more interactive and fluid dynamic applications, opening up new possibilities for brand content presentation.

Extended Application Directions

Integration with Open Android: Enhances system flexibility and expandability, supporting the native Android app ecosystem

Application in eMonitor: Optimizes user experience to create a more comfortable, eye-friendly operating environment, achieving a natural display experience

AI application scenarios: Supports AI operations under low-power conditions, realizing the core value of "returning power to AI"

E Ink will showcase the next-generation controller chip system driving a 75-inch E Ink Kaleido™ large-format signage display at Computex 2026. All interested parties are welcome to visit.
