01 Streamcom Launches VU1 Dynamic Analog Dashboards

The inspiration for VU1 comes from a hobbyist project called CAPS, which uses analog gauges to display activity data for network, RAM, CPU, and GPU, and integrates these analog gauges into the Streacom DB4. This project caught the attention of Streacom, who later developed firmware, hardware, and software for the project.

VU1 is housed in a 55mm cube made of extruded aluminum, with a sandblasted and anodized surface. The main components of VU1 include a moving coil, an ePaper display, and dial RGB lighting. The application of the ePaper display allows users to customize the content of the gauges according to their needs, displaying almost any digital information from any source in a retro analog gauge format. This transforms a single-purpose product into a versatile one.

02 Reinkstone Releases ePaper Phone Case for iPhone

In the realm of ePaper display, ePaper phone cases are becoming an increasingly popular accessory that enhances the personalization of smartphones. At the 2015 Huawei P8 launch event, the InkCase ePaper phone case developed by OAXIS was unveiled as one of the official accessories. The InkCase features e-book reading capabilities but requires continuous power supply.

In 2022, Hanhongda introduced a new generation of ePaper phone cases that utilize NFC power harvesting technology to transfer different patterns, themes, and to-do lists onto the ePaper of the phone case. The phone case does not have a built-in battery and instead utilizes the bistable nature of ePaper, allowing the patterns on the case to remain without the need for continuous power supply. This product was honored with the "Innovation" award at the first ePaper Innovative Application Forum on September 21, 2023.

Recently, Reinkstone also launched a Reink Case ePaper phone case for iPhones, which utilizes NFC technology and integrates a 3.7-inch tri-color ePaper display. Currently, this product is only compatible with the iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15 series and does not support the Mini or Plus versions.

03 Papercast’s ePaper Display Will be Used in the 37th America’s Cup

The 37th America's Cup sailing race will be held in Barcelona, and ePaper company Papercast will provide an ePaper display solution for the British team, INEOS Team UK, to enable high-speed real-time data transmission and display on their boat using a 13-inch ePaper display.

Ben Ainslie, the team leader of INEOS Team UK, stated that in order to maximize the performance of the boat, team members must be able to receive key data in a fast and easily readable format. Given that the boat will be "flying" on the water at speeds exceeding 65 miles per hour, achieving this is not easy and relies on Papercast's ePaper display solution.

04 Orange France Releases New Home Gateway Livebox 7 with ePaper Touch Screen

Orange France has launched a new home gateway product, Livebox 7, in the ePaper display field. Developed in collaboration with SoftAtHome, the product continues to utilize an ePaper touch screen (non-backlit) for display. Additionally, the Livebox 7 features a recyclable plastic casing and consumes no more than 8 Wh of standby power when all network ports are connected and active. In deep sleep mode, the power consumption is as low as 0.5 Wh.
