At CES One Company Was Showing Off… an E Ink Headset?

Some inventions inspire awe and then others like Startup Sol Reader’s new E-Ink headset just make you ask, “But why?” At CES, the startup showed off a $350 headset they’re working on that uses e-paper panels for a hands-free experience. I don’t know how I feel about it. It looks cool, but can’t you also “read” hands-free for $20 with an audiobook? Eh, I’ll pass.

Hipoink Paperless eNote Comes With 10.3-Inch E Ink Display

The Hipoink Paperless e-note device comes with a 10.3-inch E Ink display having a resolution of 1264 x 1680 pixels. It comes with a 24-level cold and warm light setting to offer a soothing reading experience irrespective of the ambient lighting condition. The device comes bundled with a stylus that will let you jot down notes or scribble on the display. It runs the Android 11 operating system and comes with its own app store. That said, there is always the option to side-load your own apps which means you can have the e-book reading app of your choice if you aren’t okay with the default stuff, which is likely to be mainly Chinese.

The purpose of the Dee, short for Digital Emotional Experience, is to create a stronger bond between people and their BMW cars … With the concept, the company has also refined its use of the color-changing spectacle it unveiled at the 2022 CES with the BMW iX Flow featuring E Ink technology. Instead of just the ability to change between black and white, the i Vision Dee’s exterior can now can now select from up to 32 colors—a first time worldwide, says the company.
